Postcard Printing in Full Color

by Jacques Di Salvia

Postcards have proven to be a smart marketing tool when reaching your prospective customer base and assist them in choosing your products and services because of their attractive and vibrant colors. A very cost-effective way to communicate with your customers and keep them informed with relevant information. Although, postcards have been used as a marketing tool for a very long time, and with the advanced printing technology, black and white postcards have been replaced by full color postcards.

If you are trying to send a message to your customers using a simple and appealing postcard with lots of color, this will definitely make a bigger impact. Lengthy brochures with multi-pages and booklets or catalogues are too time consuming to review and not very cost effective. Postcards offer a higher readability and the customers much prefer being able to get your message quickly without a lot of hype.

The postcards are done on an offset press but to have a more personalized touch digital printing is advancing to become a more popular method. Digital printing is still more effective and with features such as "variable data printing" techniques each postcard is printed with a unique and personalized approach.

Improvement in color management has also contributed a lot by producing near original prints as they are seen on monitor or during the designing stage. You can add metallic (gold/silver/copper) and fluorescent colors in your design to make it even more attractive.

The ultimate look of the final printed postcard will rely on which type of stock that you choose and it will show in the quality of the postcard too. A gloss, matte or pearl finish, are just a few of the choices available and depend totally on the design of your postcard. Also, special effects can be used when printing your postcards to give emphasis to text or images by applying UV or special effect varnish.

Should you choose to use the offset printing method it is actually less expensive to print in larger quantities. But, if you have designed your postcard using the digital press method then print in small quantities. You can meet your budget requirements utilizing both processes.

Your promotional campaign will be seen as effective in reaching your potential customer base through the use of full color postcards and will not be time consuming for your customer to read your product or service update.

Full color postcards will beat the statistics of having promotional mail thrown straight into the garbage from your customer's mailbox because of the colorful design and the lasting impression it will leave. This, in fact, will help your company achieve its sales goals while turning prospective clients into long term and loyal customers.
